Lion undergoes iPaaS modernisation with Atturra to bolster partner success and delight

Alcoholic beverages behemoth Lion recently commissioned an extensive iPaaS upgrade and modernisation project with Sydney-headquartered Atturra. The two teams worked together to bring Lion to a contemporary version of Software AG’s webMethods, enabling Lion to shorten partner order cycles, onboard new partners faster, and implement robust disaster recovery capabilities.

With lockdown lifted and restrictions easing across most Australian cities, and holiday season around the corner, Lion anticipates a substantial increase in demand from its commercial partners including microbreweries, pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues. This modernisation streamlines Lion’s order processing capabilities, ensuring it successfully delivers within the short order cycles expected by its customers - most of which don’t hold stock, and therefore expect to receive large volumes of new supply within a few days and on a recurring basis.

Commenting on the project, Ram K. – Solution Delivery Manager at Lion said, “Partnering with Atturra not only made this business-critical transformation possible, but ensured the road to the cloud was hassle-free for Lion and all our partners. They’ve built a foundation on which we can easily expand as operational requirements change and demand continues to increase. This was a successful engagement.

The iPaaS modernisation also led Lion to implement disaster recovery protocols that will keep the operations running and restore normalcy within hours in case of a potential technology or operations mishap.

Jason Frost - Executive General Manager at Atturra Data & Integrations said, “Lion has been a long-time client of Atturra and this was an exciting project with clear short and longer term technology and financial benefits. The webMethods modernisation along with the scalable APIs Atturra built has made it possible for Lion IT team to manage increasingly sophisticated environments and improve partner delight while saving the on-prem maintenance costs. The modern platform supports all partners from the largest retailers to the small corner stores.”

Throughout the engagement, Atturra’s change management team worked with Lion to keep the business partners informed and adapt with minimum disruptions to the BAU activities. The project was planned and delivered remotely during the pandemic.
