  • Specialist ichris payroll integration expertise delivered throughout complex Workday implementation
  • Seamless integration maintained between legacy ichris payroll system and new Workday platform
  • Critical resource gaps filled during implementation, ensuring project continuity and success

Opportunity

HammondCare had begun its most ambitious digital transformation program to date, implementing Workday across multiple modules, including recruitment, onboarding, core HR, reporting, learning, absence, and compensation. The goal of this comprehensive initiative was to consolidate disparate systems and create a unified technology platform for all managers and employees.

The project included integrating Workday with its existing ichris payroll system. HammondCare required highly specialised skills in both ichris and Workday integrations, a gap within the organisation.

Following a referral from Anglicare, HammondCare engaged Atturra in September 2024 to provide specialist consulting support. What began as integration advisory quickly became comprehensive program support, as the complexity of the implementation was better understood.

Solution

As the project progressed, and HammondCare’s needs evolved, Atturra’s engagement expanded.

Initial scoping revealed the organisation required more than basic integration support. It needed specialist advice on ichris functionality, Workday integration points, and the critical connections between systems that would ensure payroll continuity throughout the transformation.

Once embedded within the project team, Atturra’s consultant took ownership of the ichris side of the implementation, including data migration, integration testing, and preparation for go-live. This hands-on approach ensured that payroll operations remained stable and accurate.

Working closely with internal subject matter experts and Workday consultants, Atturra provided crucial guidance on potential payroll impacts and helped the team navigate complex integration scenarios. This collaborative approach enabled the organisation to address the inherent challenges of connecting a modern cloud platform with a legacy payroll system.

The final phase focused on go-live support and hyper care. Atturra participated in triage meetings to drive resolution of integration and data issues. Atturra’s deep knowledge of both systems enabled quick problem resolution and maintained confidence among stakeholders during this high-pressure transition.

“The program wouldn’t have been as successful if we didn’t have the input from Atturra. I have no doubt Atturra’s resources were a significant contributing factor to our success. The team plugged so many gaps we had internally and were able to partner well with every member of the HammondCare team to get the right outcome for the program.”

Outcomes achieved

HammondCare successfully implemented its comprehensive Workday platform, consolidating and updating core HR data, recruitment, reporting, learning, absence, and compensation modules into a unified system. The seamless integration with ichris payroll was achieved without disrupting pay cycles or compromising employee data integrity—a critical success factor for any HR transformation.

The organisation now has a modern, scalable technology foundation that enables managers to work within a single system. This has dramatically improved operational efficiency and user experience. Despite the resource challenges the project faced, momentum was maintained and the project achieved its objectives on time.

HammondCare’s internal team received valuable knowledge transfer throughout the engagement, which built their capability and confidence in managing the integrated systems. The successful delivery of this project has positioned the organisation for continued innovation and operational excellence, helping support its mission of quality care for older Australians.

The partnership demonstrated the value of specialist expertise during complex implementations. Atturra’s ability to be flexible and expand support as challenges emerged ensured that internal resource constraints never compromised the project’s success or the organisation’s critical payroll operations.
