Sydney, 18th August 2021 – FTS Group, one of Australia’s largest privately-owned IT services companies, has acquired Canberra-headquartered IT and consulting business Mentum Systems

Mentum Systems help clients improve business outcomes through innovative management control solutions. They make the complex simple, giving clients ‘the full picture’ to confidently make better decisions.  Since 2014, Mentum Systems has been part of the Optimation Group, where it has doubled its size and expanded its reach across Defence.

From today, FTS Group will take ownership of Mentum Systems, which further their capabilities in the enterprise management control and decision support environment, and bolsters their capability around complex modelling and analytics.  Defence is a crucial industry segment for FTS Group, and this acquisition also further deepens their reach within key Federal Departments.

Commenting on the acquisition, FTS Group CEO Stephen Kowal said: “We are excited about the potential this acquisition unlocks.  Mentum Systems presents synergies with some of our existing business units and combined we now have an unprecedented level of capability. This acquisition allows us to accelerate growth in one of our key customer sectors and strengthens our position as a leading Australian advisory technologist, with deep specialisation in our business units.”

FTS Group’s expansion strategy aligns with its vision to build a world-class end-to-end IT Services company. The acquisition strategy focuses on bringing in Australian players who either leverage IP, provide complementary services, or reach specific industries. Mentum Systems ticks these boxes and more, and is a strong fit for the Group.

Mentum Systems will now work closely with the other business units within FTS Group, including ANATAS, Cubic Consulting, Galaxy42, KoBold, Noetic, Safety Evolved, and Veritec.

Commenting on the acquisition, Petar Bielovich, General Manager, Mentum Systems, said, “The acquisition presents real opportunities for our business and our team. FTS Group has a successful track record growing the companies they acquire. What they bring to us, as a smaller business, is scale, systems, a diverse client base and a desire to grow. We are excited to join them and look forward to working closely with them to expand into the national security and other industries.”
